What's happening in East Africa Volcanoes

In East Africa, volcanoes float over 19,000 feet in the air. This is Mt. Kilimanjaro (kil-uh-muhn-JAHR-oh), one of the highest mountains in the world. Thousands of people try to climb the summit each year. Less than half are successful.
Montana Kenny of Texas has beaten all the odds. Last year, when I was 7 years old, I climbed a mountain with my mother! She was one of the youngest climbers to reach the summit.
She says, "I'm glad she was able to reach my goal."

Their adventure began about two years ago. Montana discovered that her mother was planning to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. She also asked him to leave. "I wanted to see what it was like above the clouds," he says.
Kenny knew it was important to prepare. They took a walk on the hill near the house. And they did an investigation. They realized that they needed to be prepared for all kinds of weather conditions. The bottom of Kilimanjaro is hot, but the top is snowy and cold.
Kenny also learned that climbers can get altitude sickness. The illness can be caused by climbing too fast. Therefore, he planned a slow route. Stick to it

Montana and her mother left in March 2018. The guide showed them the way. Other helpers cooked meals and brought supplies.
However, even with teamwork, it was difficult to climb the mountain for 6 days. The group walked for more than 9 hours every day. And most of the time it was raining or snowing. Smoothed the Rocky Mountains.
One day, Montana becomes nauseous. She and her mother were worried that it could be altitude sickness. They thought about returning. But after a short break, Montana felt better. She refused to give up. Two days later he reached the top of the mountain.
"Finally I was on the clouds!" She says.
Today, Montana wants other children to know that they can reach their goals. She tells them to plan ahead, use teamwork, and stick to it.
"You can do that!" She says.
